Cement Industry Award
19 June, Chip Mong Insee Cement Corporation (CMIC), whose cement plant is located in Touk Meas, Kampot Province, won Cement Industry Awards 2019 titled Award of Excellence: Cement Plant of the Year 2019 offered by International Cement Review (ICR) based in England at Cemtech Asia 2019 Conference in Bangkok, Thailand from 17 to 19 June 2019. The conference, organized by ICR, attracted over a hundred of participants involved in cement industry from over 30 countries around the world, and the theme of the conference is Pathways to Low Carbon Future.
The Cement Plant Award reflects CMIC’s mindset and commitment toward sustainable development by having low carbon emission and environmental-friendly production, and by efficiently and properly utilizing Cambodia’s energy and natural resources.
CMIC’s factory was designed with state of the art equipment to limit environmental impact. It generates power from waste heat as well as solar panels covering 33% of total consumption. CMIC is also reducing its environmental footprint through continuous innovation. A new cement with lower energy consumption is being launched and will be available nationwide in July. The company is committed to lead relentlessly the journey toward a greener industry.

Chip Mong Insee Cement Corporation (CMIC) marked tremendous achievements for 2019, just a year after cement plant commissioning, as it won two major awards — ‘Award of Excellence: The Cement Plant of Year 2019’ and first-ever EuroCham CSR Award— further raising CMIC’s reputation.
Excellence Award is a world class recognition for CMIC’s Touk Meas Cement Plant as it was attributed by the English based International Cement Review (ICR) at Cemtech Asia 2019 Conference in Bangkok, Thailand from 17 to 19 June 2019. We are committed to relentlessly continue our journey toward a greener industry, and reached another major milestone in 2019, with the start-up of our new industrial waste management solution.
Another prestigious award stemmed from the first edition of EuroCham Cambodia CSR Contest 2019, which was attended by over 300 business communities and businessmen.
CMIC won ‘The CSR Award’ titled ‘Jury’s Choice Award-All Categories’ handed over by co-presidencies of CSR Contest Jury, H.E. Mr. SOK Chenda Sophea, Minister attached to the Prime Minister, Secretary General of Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) and H.E. Mr. George EDGAR, European Union Ambassador to Cambodia.
The EuroCham also included independent Jury members comprising Mr. HAK Sok Chea, UNIDO National Project Coordinator; Mr. HAY Phirum, EuroCham Board Member; Mr. Andeol CADIN, Chairman of EuroCham Green Business Committee; Dr. Laurent MESSMANN, Advisor to the Royal University of Law and Economics; and Dr. Eric MOUSSET, CSR Expert.
